Just like any other business marketing, you have to firstly set your goals and objectives. A business without a goal would go haywire like a kite flying aimlessly here and there. This would only land you in frustration.

Here are a few suggestions that would help you build a strong base for your Internet marketing plan:

First of all you need to know your target customers - You should know the kind of people you are planning to sell your product to. Unless you know your target customers it is not possible to draw a marketing plan properly. Factors such as gender, age groups, geographical locations, marital status, educational level, income level, etc. are necessary for you to identify your prospects.

Find your niche market - After you do your research on your target customers, you need to look into your niche market. Your knowledge of your target population helps you to design the kind of website that would suit their needs. You should be aware of products or services that are likely to sell among your target customers.

Design your website - Based on your market research and your niche, you would start designing your website. Designing your website needs care in providing your customers with quality content, online order processing facilities, subscription sign-ups online, automatic email responses, shopping cart, secure server certificate, etc. You should make sure that your website is given proper colors to accelerate your products or services and the message that you would like to convey your customers. Your website should speak for you. Making your targeted customers satisfied with your website presence is important to enable repeat visits from them.

After a careful design, you start selling your business to your customers. Selling online is a continuous process.

Your Internet marketing plan should include regular advertisements about your website. You should post effective advertisements on forum boards, blogs, etc. along with a rich-content article and links to your website.

Submitting an article related to your products and services to other article publishing websites would generate targeted traffic to your site. Targeted traffic refers to those visitors who would be interested in buying your products and services. They are the ones who would promote your website sales.

You could include these ideas in your marketing plans to attract potential customers. Employ these and see the difference!

Don’t Sell ‘Em A Product; Sell ‘Em A Profit Generator

One of the toughest aspects of online marketing for beginners is creating their own product. It’s a process that can vary from a few weeks to a couple of months to as long as even a year! Of course, that’s not counting writing and creating the sales page, download page, and setting up the order-taking process.

But the sad fact is that once they’ve finally gotten to the launch stage, the only item being offered is the product itself. In short, it’s a one-shot deal. After the hoopla dies down, then it’s back to the drawing board to create another product.

If you’ve been a part of online marketing since 2005, then you’ve probably heard about those crazy “dime sales.” It’s a special offer where you can buy a hot new product for as little as ten bucks. But here’s the kicker: there’s also an upsell to purchase resale rights for an additional fee.

As someone just starting out in online marketing, which method would be the most profitable for you? The second one, of course! And that’s exactly how the most successful marketers can rake in as much as 10 times the profit from one small product than most people ever make from selling several products, combined!

You see most people are selling just their product. But the smart marketers also offer resell rights or even Master resell rights along with the product. Instead of selling a “product”, they’re offering a “profit-generation” tool.

Imagine… If you could sell your product to 100 people today, would you be content to sell just the product and make $27 per copy? What if you could sell resell rights as well and make $67 per copy?  Or how about including Master resell rights at $147 per copy?

In case you’re wondering, using this strategy is how a handful of marketers are able to make thousands of dollars in five to seven days from just one product. In the meantime most others are struggling to sell their e-books, one-at-a-time, at $19.95 or $27 a pop.

This is not “rocket science”, and practically anyone can do this. Simply stated, all you’re doing is creating a different package for your product. Instead of selling a product, you’re offering a business, which has a much higher perceived value. You’re not just providing information; you’re also giving your prospect a potential income source!

And it gets even better, because it doesn’t matter which niche market you are selling to. There will always be a group of buyers (in any niche) that would like to start a side business to either make money, or at least bring in a few extra dollars.

Create An Authority Site For Online Profits

What is an authority website? In general, authority website is a large website full of resources on a specific topic. A page may be considered as an authority on a particular topic if knowledgeable experts on a particular topic refer to it.  Such a webpage may consist of relevant hyperlinks on the expert page.

These links would have to be carefully picked so that their information matches a relevant query.  Thus an authority webpage would consist of specialized informative pages with relevant hyperlinks from many other authorities or experts in a particular topic.

Many of us believe that an authority site is one, which is picked upon by search engines as quality site, that is filled with pertinent content, which consists of relevant links and is seen as a trusted source of information and online profits. While these aspects are known qualities, a true definition points out that an authority site is one that engages its community with its qualities mentioned above namely relevant content and relevant hyperlinks from experts on a particular topic.  Current websites are ones that are Web 2.0 ready.

An authority website consists of a basic domain name and hundreds of sub domains on different but related topics. An authority site should serve as a well-defined and large market. It should consist of a number of sub domains that cover specific areas related to a larger market.  In short, an authority site consists of an enormous amount of original content and a great visitor experience.

For example if you were to create an authority website on weight management program, you would first of all choose a suitable domain name for your website.  Your website would contain specific content related to weight management.  Your content is the main key to traffic. Good content attracts many visitors. You should also have hyperlinks which would lead to information on health clubs, diet, health food, diet food, etc.  This way, you would be able to aim your general market while generating more traffic to related sub markets or sub domains. Using this approach, you are able to target your general market while generating more targeted traffic pertaining to related sub-markets.

You should create your site in such a way that while the index pages on your domains and sub domains are more focused on content, your article and commentary pages are more focused on advertising. The most important aspect of your site is visitor optimization, i.e. unique visitor experience.

Your website should be a main source of information in a specific market. Your site should contain original and valuable content, is dynamic with a number of RSS feeds and is interactive in order to   become an authority site. Through these qualities, you would be able to generate a lot of visitors through major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, etc.

There are a number of websites on the Internet that may serve as an example. Study such sites and follow these guidelines if you want to create an authority site.

Charting A Course For Success

It’s always “the little things” that seem to cause the most problems. Like a missing rivet, or, back in the days when people traveled on horseback, a loose horseshoe. Ordinarily, one less rivet or a missing horseshoe nail wouldn’t spell disaster.

But what if the rivet was missing on the side of a storm-tossed ocean liner? And, what if the missing horseshoe nail was on one of the horses pulling a cannon into battle? In each case, a disastrous situation occurred due to someone overlooking a seemingly small yet very important detail because they were focusing on the wrong goal.

Before you start pointing any fingers, you should also know that often the same principle holds true as we pursue our goals. Of course, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with setting goals- we must do this if we’re going to get anything done. But the problem comes when, in the course of trying to meet those goals, we get so caught up in the process that we overlook some very important details. The result: we get “off course” in achieving our goal because “the Project” overrides “the Purpose” and in many cases, takes its place.

Whether it’s an aircraft, spacecraft or ship, in order to arrive at the intended destination, a series of “course corrections” are necessary. The pilot must continually interpret the current position in relation to the final destination–and be aware of potential hazards—so that small necessary adjustments can be made to stay on course and arrive safely.

In the examples given above, as a result of lack of attention to details, disaster and loss of life became very real possibilities. While trying to “finish the job”, many people involved in the process lost sight of the real goal: making sure the job was done well so that the ship and horse, respectively, could make the trip and perform its function safely.

So how does this relate with Marketing and running your own business? More than you realize.

Just like the workers who were given the task of preparing the ship and horse for service, we can also get the idea that “goal” for our business is determined by our current campaign or project. We start thinking that we must focus all of our efforts and energies to finish it.

It’s a proven fact that “where you look is where you go.” How many times have you started to veer off the road toward what you were trying to get a better look at as you passed by it? (You’ve done it too, huh?) Well, the same principle holds true in anything we do. We can get focused on achieving an immediate goal that we totally lose sight of the real goal–the reason for having a business in the first place. For most of us, that is something like being able to spend more time with our family, or to have the means to do things together and to go places with them.

Maybe you’ve been pre-occupied with your business endeavors. Whether or not this is the case, we should practice regular “course corrections” as we work to meet our personal and financial goals. And we need to be sure we’re focusing on the real goal, not just the “immediate” one.

One suggestion is to write out a detailed description of your real goal. Then put it where you’ll see it daily to help you to remember that your business activities are supposed to be a means to that end; they are not the goal. If you don’t make the effort to actively chart a course for success, you will run the real risk of experiencing personal and family disaster because you weren’t aware of possible pitfalls and didn’t make small but needed adjustments to stay on course to reach your goal.

Cashing In With Pop-Ups

It’s the original digital device that everyone loves to hate. The dreaded pop-up. Chances are pretty good that, unless you’ve got a blocker, most sites you’ve visited use one. Like it or not, pop-ups work, which is why you’ll find most well known marketers using them.

When it comes to pop-ups, there is not only a variety to choose from, but there’s also several ways to use them. To use them effectively, it’s important to know what you want to use it to accomplish and which kind is best suited to achieve that purpose.

The most common pop-up is the pop-up box that appears offering a free gift in return for subscribing to the site’s newsletter. Usually you’re asked to include your first name and e-mail address. A variation on this is the “stealth pop-up.” It looks like the gray dialogue box on your computer, and when you click “OK”, it automatically sends a subscription request from your default e-mail client on your behalf.

A less-annoying version of the standard pop-up is the pop-under. It works just like the pop-up except this kind appears at the bottom of the browser without blocking your view of the site. This could be also be used as a sign-up box, but is often used to draw you to more information about a specific product or service.

One of the more recent versions of the pop-up is the “slider.” As its name implies, this kind doesn’t “pop-up”; instead it appears to slide across the screen. These are also very effective for getting new subscribers. Some marketers use them to offer a discount or up sell.

Many marketers have begun using a timed pop-up. They are created in such a way that you are given a specific time period in which to click on the box before the countdown ends. These are often used to offer a discount on the product or service being offered.

Of course, a discussion on pop-ups would not be complete without mentioning the exit pop-up. As its name implies, it appears when you leave the site. More recently these have been used as “ask boxes,” with an audio clip asking you to input why you are leaving the site without signing up or purchasing a product. These are also used to get sign-ups for a free report or e-course with information related the site’s product or service.

Building Blocks For a Block-Buster Podcast

There’s a well-known but often little-heeded saying that goes something like this: “If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail.” Ever wonder what it would like to build a forty-story building without a blueprint?
It would never be completed because no one would know everything that would be necessary to get the job done.

While there is no comparison between the value of a major construction project and creating a podcast, neither project will succeed unless a plan has been created to guide the process from start to finish. So, although it won’t be as elaborate as a construction blueprint, your podcast will need to follow a plan in order to be successful.

If you think about a typical broadcast, you can see that it consists of a number of “building blocks.” There is the introduction, the opening comments, perhaps a guest appearance, discussion on one or more topics, maybe a special feature, then closing comments with the broadcast coming to a close. Why should your podcast be any different?

This is a process commonly referred to as “storyboarding.” You simply “map out” what you want to do, and in the order that you want to do it. This in turn becomes the “frame” or format for your production. Once you’ve determined what your podcast will consist of and the order it will occur, you can go back and include specific details for each segment if you choose.

Now, once you’ve determined the elements of your show, decide on an intro and outro—and theme music for each—and then use it with each show. This will add both professionalism and familiarity to your podcast. Your favorite radio or TV program has these features; your podcast should too.

Next, you need to prepare a “clock” for your show. Each segment should be given a specific time frame that will be the same for every show. Talk shows and news programs do this all the time.

Take the time and thought necessary to assemble these building blocks for your podcast. If you do, you could be well on your way to creating a super successful podcast.
